Asessment.

Partners assessment.

I provided the needed equipment. Such as my makeup brushes, and makeup and hair kit. I also took along with me my designs of hair and makeup. Face chart, hair chart. Step by step hair pictures and makeup pictures. I also wrote step by step instructions as well as product, and equipment lists.I also supplied a consultation form.

My partners design.

For the assessment I made sure I was prepared. By practising my partners design on them and reading through her instructions to insure it was setting stone in my mind.

I set up my area turned on the lights, clipped my models hair back and applied a cape. I ensured I washed my hands and used disinfectant spray.

I think I followed the design  well I was unsure on the eyebrows I feel as though the product my partner wanted me to use was too greasy so slipped on the skin making the colour less intense. I am happy with how I did they eyes and base. I feel as though I probably should of powdered more. Possibly should of made the lips slightly smaller so they look more bee stung but am happy with the shape. I also should've applied more mascara as it do not capture too well on the camera. If I was to re-create this again I would of taken photos when practising in similar studio lighting to see how strongly I needed to apply the products. I could of aid more attention to detail with the hair and brows. As the hair is a bit messy.

Self Evaluation.

When recreating my partners design I made sure we practised. I found creating the base and eyes simple enough. It was the eyebrow shape that really threw me off and getting them symmetrical. I had to practise a lot for this. I thought I handled my time quite well as I did finished within the time limit and did not feel as though I rushed myself. I felt as if the makeup was extremely heavy but this down my partner wanted her makeup and hair to look. However it did photography well but looked slightly shiny even with powder on top due to lighting. Overall I am not too pleased with the outcome of how I created my partners design I do not know if this is down to her design not suiting her face. The outcome looked better on camera which made me feel more content with her look

Overall I have found this project somewhat challenging. As there were so many adaptations of the novel `Goodbye To Berlin` like The cabaret. I was not sure what route I look to for inspiration. The novel made me visualise a scene and the characters in greater details as did the script. But when I saw the film it began to put completely different visuals in my head which was affecting my design. Although I know the film was only for research purposes to reference it still made it hard for me to differentiate between historical to sort of modern. That is when I realised I needed to research further into the periodical looks. My design then began to piece together. To develop my research I read books, looked at art movement, political issues, I watched many documentaries and films to get a clear understanding of the time. I then began to base my character on a famous figure who seemed to have similar values to my character of which I felt represented my character well. I began to get in the mind frame of my character when creating my designs. Questioning my character. What would she be doing now? would she really look like this? How much time did she have? I then began to create my designs based on the scene and what happened before the scene which would affect her look and state of mind. I had a problem blocking out the brows but after much practice and realising what I had done wrong I finally managed to block them out. I found creating my design around my face rather intriguing as I discovered my tiny lips came into use my lips already have a heart shape to them making them easy to create 30’s lips. My hair designs I enjoyed recreating turning my hair into a bob and took in to consideration technique.

Peer assessment.

Chelseas design consisted of a heart shaped red lip, pale complexion, thin raised brows and warm toned eyes. I felt this design suited her character well as it complemented it blue in her eyes.

I felt as though my partner followed my instructions well. She was hygienic and clean. Had good technique and created my design well. I would say that she did not use the time well as she would take a while on something that left less time for the rest of the design. I felt as though she did not pay attention to detail with the eyes as she did not create the desired shape. I wanted more of a pointed shape like on my face charts, yet rounded above the brow bone. I felt as though my partner had to rush my eyes as she took too long on the skin and blocking the brows. However created a very similar outcome to my design and I was pleased with how the outcome looked. I felt Chelsea was confident in my design and created a really good final image.

The hair was extremely similar  as my design I was really pleased with it. My partner was very professional and I felt confident she could create my design.

I found her design to be challenging when it came to the eyebrows as she wanted them so particular it was extremly hard to get them to be symmetrical
