Leigh took the drag culture by storm. There was a huge movement in the drag culture, where it began to become animalistic. Leigh had some fashion success showcasing some of his clothing designs at London fashion week, New York, and Tokyo. However he was best known as London's biggest night club promoter. He promoted or a club named "Taboo" the club was full of individuals playing with their persona and exploring their sexuality. Here people could be themselves.

Other than the club scene leigh was also associated with art and the theatre. He would often be found performing in nothing but face paints, masks and lurex outfits. Doing whatever possible to perplex the audience.
The New York club kids modelled themselves on Leigh Bowery. His impeccable avant garde image and party concepts. Who wouldn't feel inspired? Leigh was most certainly the most conspicuous of the club kids "we try to shock people" (Joan Rivers show, Leigh Bowery)
London was dull Leigh made it exciting with his costumes. Leigh was skeptical about designing his clothes as he did not just want anybody wearing his clothes. They were how he expressed himself from the inside.
I'm writing about Leigh Bowery as he had a huge impact on the club scene from the 80's with his wild style and antics He created a fun, carefree, be who you want or are environment. He turned the club into a catwalk show. People would get more excited about dressing up than going out. Which I can refer to myself as I get more excited about dolling up than leaving the house. He encouraged the youth to experiment, with appearance, drugs and sexuality.

I found this interview to be extremely interesting as they explain why they are the way they are. It's fun and self expression! I feel totally inspired by their words they are just so brutally honest.
