Green.
The obvious colour that intrigued me is exhibited by the main character Sally Bowels ambiguous emerald green nails. Sally describes her nails as being "Divine decadence darling". Possibly indicating that she's living in sin perhaps; that she is rebelling against the ideal ideology for a woman. Possibly the meaning is deeper than sexual,as the Wiemar culture was extremely corrupt; maybe her nails are symbolic for the decaying society. Green is not very often associated with positive connotations in this context. I associate the green with mold, and being toxic. Which I suppose in a scene Sally could be seen as being toxic in others lives, she ruins relationships and does not endorse a healthy lifestyle. Could also be symbolizing a toxic lifestyle.

Red.
Red is a colour that is used continuously throughout the film. The colour is used rather subtly through out the film. We see red when Brian arrives in Berlin he is surrounded by different shades of red. Could this be symbolizing excitement and energy for Brian's new life? Possibly connotating change. We then see red when Brian first lays eyes on Sally in The Kit Kat club the lighting is red and so is her lipstick. The red again could be implying change as when Brian meets Sally she instantly changes his life, she is also the typical `lady in red` that men need to be aware of or rather she makes herself out that way, when in reality she is not sexy, and mysterious she is a lost cause to me. We then see the Nazis wearing red towards the end of the film perhaps connotating change, but this time political change of power. Signifying the end of a era red is then decoded as danger to me.

Black.
I have noticed throughout the film Sally wears a lot of black. Black is often the colour we mourn in.
Black is also associated with being promiscuous as it is a dark mysterious colour that is bold and instantly grabs our attention without it being a bright shade. Black makes a statement. Sally mainly wears black when she is performing possibly is part of her promiscuous, persona. I realized there was sequins over her vagina. I thought it may be trying to perceive some of the politics of that time. Knowing that feminism was born this would of been seen as obscene of that period. Sally being her persona she wants to rebel against the female ideal.

Neutrals.
Throughout the film there are charterers that wear neutral colours such as beige and greys this could possibly be representing living a sheltered life. As we see characters such as Natalia and Brain wearing colours of this pallet Both of which are well educated showing juxta positions of characteristics in comparison to Sally. When Brain meets Maximilian he immediately dresses him i blue, possibly showing change of lifestyle.

Purple.
Purple is undoubtedly a prime colour in the film. Not only is Sally sporting a purple kimono. But in the final scene in the club, Sally is wearing a sexy halter neck purple dress. As Sally invites the public in to "come play " it is the end of the Wiemar era. Although no one dies, it could be metaphorical for society fading into darkness much like the show performed.
