What is their motivation/ needs?

Motivation to perform from Sally perhaps get her leg up why? to earn money from Cliff as she almost tries to seduce him with the song.

Sallys motivation in this scene is to perform well and sensually. Why? Sally earns a living from performing at the club. If shes performs a captivating performance she can gain more clients. The better quality the performance perhaps the better clients financially. From her performance she wants sex but in return for money. Her need in this scene is to earn money. She tries to seduce Cliff in this scene in hope he is wealthy and will pay for her services "she has sung to him-almost as though he is the only one in the audience" (act one,scene four). Suggesting she may think he will pay for her. She needs this money as she is struggling for rent, and needs to fund her cocaine addiction, it is the only source of energy Sally gets.
